Parents & carers

Parents and carers are part of the team. Here's what we ask of you so every child has a safe, positive and enjoyable experience at HHYFC.

What we expect on matchday

Support, don't coach

Applaud effort and good play from both teams. Leave tactics and instructions to the coach — mixed messages confuse young players.

Respect officials

Many referees are teenagers themselves. No dissent, no shouting at decisions. Any concerns go through the team manager, never directly to the ref.

Stand behind the line

Spectators stay behind the designated spectator line — opposite the technical area — throughout the match.

Communicate early

Let your coach know about availability, injuries or lifts by Thursday evening so squads can be finalised in good time.

Your commitments to the club

  • Get your child to training and matches on time, in the correct kit with shin pads.
  • Ensure registration, medical and consent forms are up to date.
  • Report any welfare concern to the Club Welfare Officer within 24 hours.

Behaviour we won't tolerate

  • Shouting at, or abuse of, players, coaches, officials or opposition parents.
  • Coaching from the sideline or contradicting the team coach during play.
  • Using club or team WhatsApp groups for anything inappropriate or complaints.

Repeated breaches can result in a matchday ban under the FA Respect programme.

Raising a concern or complaint

Stage 1 is always direct resolution — speak to your team coach or manager first. If that doesn't resolve it, put your complaint in writing to the Club Welfare Officer at welfare@hhyfc.info within 28 days (or Ben Peach (secretary@hhyfc.info) or Steve Forbes (chairman@hhyfc.info) if there's a conflict of interest), using the club complaint form. The club will not accept a formal complaint via social media. For welfare concerns, contact Fiona Turner (Club Welfare Officer) at welfare@hhyfc.info.
